Sara Elizabeth Kennedy, the inspiration for SaraCare, December 13, 1986 - March 23, 2005.

The SaraCare Fund

A memorial fund in honor of Sara Elizabeth Kennedy who with tremendous hope, gracefully fought Rhabdomyosarcoma (an aggressive childhood cancer) from June 16, 2004 until March 23, 2005 when the battle was lost.  This fund was established in order  to support the work of  her wonderful health care providers (Kentucky Children's Hospital and The Pediatric Oncology Clinic).  The SaraCare Fund is also dedicated to providing assistance and comfort to young patients and their families.  Sara wanted to make a difference in the lives of families that were experiencing the same difficult trials as she.  The first project (initiated by Sara before her death) was to provide remote control televisions with built in vcr/dvd players for all the rooms on Four West of the Children's Hospital.  Within three months of Sara's passing, this project was completed, made possible through generous gifts from her friends and family.  As of May 6, 2006 the SaraCare Fund has provided all of the Kentucky Childrens Hospital's rooms with televisions. As of 2007 the television project at Kentucky Children's Hospital is complete.  A Wii machine in honor of Hayes Rogers was installed at the Kentucky Children's Hospital and the Pediatric Hemotology/Oncology Clinic.  Also, an art fund was established at the Kentucky Children's Hospital in honor of Tiffany Cheek.  Our mission continues with your support.
